HUMBLE BEGINNINGS....

I want to share the story of my humble beginnings in photography. This photo, taken this past January, represents my story. I just got my new camera for Christmas and we had taken the kids up north for a ski trip. On the way to the resort I spotted this cabin on a hill next to the highway and told my husband that I wanted to come back that way when we left to go home and take some photos. We did, only I wasn't really prepared for the elements, I had on jeans a light sweater and tennis shoes. He stopped at the side of the road and I climbed out of the car only to be nearly blown over by the wind...a very cold wind! I told my husband that I was having second thoughts about doing this and he told me that if I wanted to be a "real photographer" that I needed to do this. That gave me the motivation to brave the cold and get to the cabin. I had to walk through a couple feet of snow, in tennis shoes mind you, and climb under a barbwire fence to get to the cabin. Once I got close enough, I took as many photos as I could before I began to really freeze. Once I was back in the car my feet were frozen and my pants were wet up to my ankles. It was a venture well worth it I think! I learned from that experience that it isn't always going to be easy on my path to becoming a "real photographer" but it will be well worth it.
